Service for Kelvin Devon Mitchell, age 49, was held Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 1:00pm at Wahalak Missionary Baptist Church in Butler, AL with Rev. Shern Collins, Sr. officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Kelvin Devon Mitchell was born October 17, 1974 to the late Hettie Kennedy and the late James Keeton in Butler, Alabama. He departed this earthly life on February 27, 2024 in Butler, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hettie Kennedy and James Keeton; grandparents, Lucille and Sim Mitchell, Lorene and Aaron Keeton; and four uncles, Larry Keeton, Leon Keeton, Tommy Keeton, and Roy Mitchell.
Kelvin accepted Christ at an early age and knew God was his Savior. Kelvin was an alumnus of Choctaw County High School. He enjoyed a professional career in MLB playing for the Seattle Mariners. He continued his passion for the game mentoring young athletes in Choctaw County. He owned Greenline Logistics Trucking Company until the time of his death. He was a devoted father and well known in his community. Kelvin was full of love and joy to those who knew him. To know him was to love him.
He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving devoted aunt, Claritha Mitchell Ayers.
