Service for Apostle Lesley Powe, age 64, was held Saturday, October 15, 2022 at C and J Holiness Church in Silas, AL with Rev. Johnny Heartfield officiating.  Interment followed in Powe Cemetery in Shady Grove, AL.

Apostle Lesley Powe was born on March 30, 1958 in Silas, AL to the late Wesley Powe and the late Attlee Powe.  He ascended on October 8, 2022 at the University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB) Hospital in Birmingham, AL.  He was preceded by his parents, Wesley and Attlee Powe and a sister, Winnie Lee Nicholson.

Apostle Powe leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife, Carolyn Powe; a daughter, LaKeshia Powe; two sisters, Louvenia (Griffin) McMillian and Mae Lee (Calvin) West; one brother-in-law, Robert Jones; two devoted aunts, Minister Ruby Philon and Georgia Powe; one devoted uncle, Deacon Leo Powe; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Service for Willie James Rackley, age 76, was held on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at 1:00pm at Butler Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Butler, AL with Rev. Kennith S. Jefferson officiating.  Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Willie James Rackley, affectionately known as George or Soup, was born on September22, 1946 to the late Abe and Louise Rackley.  He departed his earthly life on September 27, 2022 at Choctaw Health and Rehab in Butler, AL.  He was preceded in death by two sons, Keith Young and Chaddrick Coleman.

George accepted Christ in his life and was baptized at Butler Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church where he served in numerous capacities and was a faithful choir member.  He worked building construction with TC Gaines; as a sanitation worker with the City of Butler for many years; and drove a bus for Alabama Public Transportation.  George had a great love for cooking and became well known for his barbecue.

George is survived by his wife, Willie Jewel Rackley; one daughter, Angelia Rackley; five sons, Anthony (Patricia) Williams, Charles (Diane) Chaney, Scottie Rackley, Darin Rackley, Kelvin (LaDonna) Rackley; three sisters, Ruth Rackley, Bessie (Danny) Brown, Judy Eddie; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
