Graveside Service for Lelar Gray Ridgeway, age 93, was held Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 11:00am at St. Mary United Methodist Church with Pastor Gerald Goodman officiating.
Lelar was born November 12, 1927 to the parentage of Cain Ridgeway and Mary Elizabeth Rembert Ridgeway. She entered peacefully into her new life with the Lord on August 21, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cain and Mary Elizabeth Ridgeway; three brothers, Nollie (Veara), Cain Jr. , Johnny; three sisters, Ellen (Roosevelt), Cannie (Willie), Bernice; three nephews, and three nieces.
Born again early in life, Lelar was a faithful member of St. Mary United Methodist Church. She believed in God; trusted Him; and sought to live in His righteousness. She exercised purpose in life. Lelar lived, loved, enjoyed and appreciated having a purpose through her connection to and in experiencing the natural side of living things such as flowering, gardening, canning, crafts, and other hobbies that she considered work.
She leaves to mourn: one sister, Erma (Jessie) Edwards of Butler, AL; one brother, Rufus Warner of Robins, GA; two sisters-in-law, Hazel (Johnny) of Greensboro, AL, Annie (Rufus) of Robins, GA; eleven nieces (four step); twelve nephews (four step); a devoted great niece, Tracey Chaney of Pennington, AL; and a host of other great and great- great nieces and nephews.
