A Memorial Service in remembrance of Annie D. Gaines Ray, age 87, was held Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 1:00pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses in Butler, AL.
Annie D. Gaines Ray was born November 25, 1935 to Jesse and Floreda Gaines in Mt. Sterling, AL. She departed this earthly life on June 24, 2023 at her residence. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Floreda Gaines; her husband, Clinton Ray; her daughter, Evelyn Lane; four brothers, Ludie, Jessie Jr., Napoleon, Willie Louis; and a sister, Rutha Mae.
Annie married and moved to Boston, MA where she worked and raised her children. She was baptized one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1986. Later in life she moved back to Butler, AL where she continued to faithfully witness and serve Jehovah.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Doris Ray of Londonderry, NH, Alfreda Green (Charles) of Boston, MA, Clinton Ray Jr. (Cathy) of Brookline, MA, Clinnell Gulfield (Walter) of Concord, NC, Valence Ray of Manchester, NH, Vivian Baker (Larry) of Hopkins, SC, Lillian Ray of Winooski, VT, Rueben W. Ray (Lecia) of Pennington, AL, Candice M. Brown (Demetrius) of Prosper, TX; sister, Essie Ridgeway of Butler, AL; Floreda Perkins of Boston, MA and Adam Gaines of Boston, MA; 24 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and a host of nephews and nieces.
