Mrs. Walker passed on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Arabella Health & Wellness Center in Butler, Alabama.

A private memorial will be held for Mrs. Walker at a later date.

Funeral Service for Brother Eddie Carvis James, Sr. was held on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. at Mt. Mariah Baptist Church, 9826 Pine Grove Road, Ward, Alabama 36922 with Rev. Al L. Smith officiating.  Interment, followed in the church cemetery.

Brother Eddie Carvis James, Sr. was born on October 20, 1969, in Choctaw County, Alabama to the late George Eddie James and Irene Chaney James. He peacefully entered eternal rest on December 18, 2023 at his home surrounded by close family.  He was preceded in death by his parents, George Eddie James and Irene Chaney James.

At an early age, Eddie joined Ward Chapel AME Zion, until his adult years, when he later became a member at Mt. Mariah Baptist Church. He was a 1988 alumnus of Choctaw County High School, where he was a devoted trumpeter and a member of the National Honor Society.

In the late 1980s, he worked at Piggly Wiggly as an Assistant Manager until he was hired at James River, now known as Georgia Pacific.  There, Eddie began as a production employee and was later promoted to a Supervisor.

On April 11, 1992, he married Areia S. Vinson, whom he loved and cherished for thirty-one years until his death in 2023. To this union, two sons were born.

He leaves to cherish his memories: two sons, Eddie Jr. (Briana) and Neal (Staci); five grandchildren: Ethan, Jaxon, Brayden, Ariel, and Keigan; four siblings: Calvin (Vickie) James, Sr., Angenetta (Murray, Jr) Ford, all of Ward, AL; Demetris (Sherita) James Sr., York, AL and Jennifer (Danny, Sr.) Coleman, Moundville, AL, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
