Funeral service for Jarnessa Ruffin, age 41, was held Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 12:00p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Butler, AL with Rev. Cleo McGrew, Sr. officiating.  Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Jarnessa Ruffin was born July 2, 1981 to the late James W. DeLoach and Joyce F. Ruffin. She departed this life on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at University of Alabama Hospital (UAB Hospital) in Birmingham, AL.  She was preceded in death by her father, James Deloach;  her grandparents, LC and Ella Ruffin, Joe and Mary DeLoach; one aunt, Irene Ruffin McIntosh; and six uncles, Eddie Jackson, Louis Ruffin, James Ruffin, Joe DeLoach, Maurice DeLoach and Richard McIntosh.

Jarnessa confessed Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Butler, AL.  She graduated from Choctaw County High School in the year 2000.

She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Kaleigh Wimbley; her mother, Joyce F. Ruffin of Butler, AL; four sisters, Chelissa Gaines of Butler, AL, Katrina (Jerome) Nelson of Montgomery, AL, Brenda (George) Barcolleh of Conyers, GA; and Shirley (George) Carter of Ward, AL; a loving companion, Marcus Coleman; two special aunts, Betty Pennington, Ft. Wayne, IN, Onita Jackson of Oklahoma City, OK; best friend, Kristi Mott; god-mother, Margie Crowell; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends.

Leron Nicholson, Sr.

Funeral service for Mr. Leron Nicholson, Sr, age 82, was held Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Needham, AL with Rev. Kennedy R. Gray officiating.  Interment followed in the church cemetery.

            Leron Nicholson was born on August 9, 1940 to the late Coley and Willie Mae Bonner-Nicholson of Needham, AL.  The final chapter of his life was closed on March 6, 2023 at Sumter Health and Rehab in York, AL.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clifford Nicholson, Edward Nicholson; and two sisters, Mary Nicholson, Faye Parker.

            Leron met and married his beloved wife, Magdalene Vandiver Nicholson over 26 years ago while they both worked and lived in the Northeast.  However, they returned to their roots in the south after retiring from their jobs.  Leron enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening.

            He leaves to cherish his memories: a loving and devoted wife, Magdalene Nicholson; his children, Leron (Tara) Nicholson, Jr. of Birmingham, AL, two step-sons, Mark (Katrina) Moore of Newport News, VA, Kevin Vandiver of Bronx, NY, a step-daughter, Katrina Vandiver of Newark, NJ; three sisters, Willie Morris Wynn of Needham, AL, Rosetta Nicholson of Butler, AL, Rosa Lee (Bob) Burroughs of Womack Hill, AL; one brother, Lindsey (Francis) Nicholson of Needham, AL; four grandchildren, Leron Nicholson III, Isaiah (Jazmin) Nicholson, Elisha Nicholson, Genesis (Nicholas) Nicholson; two great grandchildren, Sky and Lynnox Nicholson; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
