Graveside Services were held for Bro. Tommy Lee Coleman on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Jackson Memorial Cemetery, County Road 7, Sweet Water, Alabama with Rev. Keith Howell, Officiating.

Tommy Lee was born March 8, 1963 to the late Amos Coleman and Ida Mae Ruffin.  After the death of both parents, Tommy Lee was raised by his Aunt Susie and Uncle Cornelius Steele.  

Tommy Lee graduated from Choctaw County High School, and was employed by James Logging Company of Choctaw County, Alabama and Pritchett Logging Company in Marengo County, Alabama as an Equipment Operator.

Tommy Lee accepted Christ and joined Independent Baptist Church.  He served faithfully as a choir member, and as the church custodian.

In May of 1989, he moved to Sweet Water, Alabama and married Danita Tinsley.

On January 13, 2023, Tommy Lee transitioned and entered into eternal rest.  He was kind-hearted, with a great sense of humor.

He leaves to forever cherish his memory: wife, Danita Coleman; 3 sons, David Doss, Antonio Nettles, and one devoted son, Justin Coleman; 4 daughters, April, Marilyn, Latoya Doss, and one devoted daughter, Shanita (Jeremy) Turner.  He also leaves to cherish 11 grandchildren; 11 brothers and sisters, Sylvester Spencer, Louisville, KY; Curtis Spencer, Adrian Spencer, Marguerite Burton (Fat), Deborah Steele (DeeDee), Cornelius Steele (Bug), all of Whitfield, AL; William Spencer, York, AL; Jacqueline Ward, Huntsville, AL; Jennifer Steele, Butler, AL; Reginald Steele and Regina Steele, Tuscaloosa, AL; two aunts, Elenora Spencer and Mary Frances Johnson, both of Lorraine, OH; a devoted mother and father-in-law, George and Inez Tinsley; four sisters-in-law, Eileen Fuller (David), Celeste Patterson (Clyde), Danetta Nelson (Anthony), Crystal Curtis (Gary); one brother-in-law, Stanley Tinsley; special friend, Alicia Horn and bonus son, Justin Glover, both of Butler, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside service for Kevin O’Neal James, age 56, was held Saturday, January 1, 2023 at 3:00pm at Thompkinsville Cemetery in Pennington, AL with Rev. Oscar Blanco officiating. 

Kevin O’Neal James was born April 3, 1966 in Butler, AL to the late Herbie and Catherine James.  He departed this earthly life on January 7, 2023.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbie and Catherine James and a brother, Roy James.

Kevin, well-known as “Jaybird”, accepted Christ at an early age joining Thompkinsville AME Zion Church in Pennington where he grew up.  He was educated in the Choctaw County Public School System, graduating with the Choctaw County High School Class of 1985.  He joined the Army National Guard in 1988 and served 19 years.  He served two tours of duty, the Desert Storm War and The Iraqi War.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of 34 years, Rita Capers James; sons, Quincy Capers (Tae), Kevin O’Neal James, Jr., Allan James; five daughters, Aston Lurry (Dee), Sharita James, Lashonda James, Katrina James, Kimberly James; brothers, Leonard James (Cynthia), Herbie James, Jr. (Delcena); sisters, Vanessa Moran (Tim), Vernice Bracey, Beatrice Carpenter, Phylis (Oscar) Blanco; grandkids, Ceazia, Christian, Taylor, Cortez, Kaydence, Tylan, Tru, Di’Yor; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
