Carrie Brown Eddie

Graveside Service for Carrie Brown Eddie, age 87, was held Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at Butler Chapel AME Zion Church Cemetery with Pastor Kennith Jefferson officiating.

Carrie Brown Eddie was born August 17, 1933 to the late Grant Brown and Martha McClendon.  She departed this life on March 3, 2021 at her residence.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Sanders Eddie, Jr.; parents, Grant Brown and Martha McClendon; son, SGT Barrett Eddie; brother, Charlie D. Brown; sisters, Melissa Winston, Hattie Winston; and god-brother, Roosevelt Barron.

Carrie confessed Christ at an early age and joined Butler Chapel AME Zion Church.  She was employed as a custodian at Butler Elementary School where she was known as “the popcorn lady”.

Carrie leaves to cherish her memory: four daughters, O’Neita Thompson, Mobile, AL, Amanda (Thurwood) Linebarger, Columbus, OH; Carolyn E. Whitted, Butler, AL, Doris (Murray A.) Ford, Butler, AL; three sons, Sanders Eddie III, Butler, AL; Riley (Flora) Eddie, Caldaro (Shirley) Eddie, both of Lisman, AL; 37 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; three brothers, Wilson Brown, Michael Williams, both of Butler, AL, Grant Brown Jr., Detroit, MI; five sisters, Hannah (K.T.) Jenkins, Christine (Medell) Banks, both of Butler, AL, Pearlie Winston, Ola Cunningham, both of Hampton, VA, Anna Turner, Detroit, MI; brother-in-law, Willie Brown Eddie; god-sister, Rosa Williams, Butler, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
