Theodore Mosley

Service for Theodore Mosley was held Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 12:00 noon at Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Butler, AL with Rev. Samuel Duff officiating.  Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Theodore Mosley was born on June 24, 1952 in Choctaw County, AL to the late Willie James Mosley and Dorothy Mae Mosley. He departed this life on June 8, 2023 at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter; four brothers; two sisters; four nephews; and three nieces.

At an early age, Theodore joined Salem Baptist Church. His years of service at Salem were faithful and devoted. Theodore worked an off-shore job for 17 years.

He leaves to cherish his his memories: his wife, Elma Mosley of Butler, AL; three daughters, Lyric Mosley of Oxford, GA, Michelle Mosley of St. Louis, MO, Lakeshia Mcllwain of Butler, AL; five grandchildren, Gabriel Mosley of Butler, AL, Chilyrous (Shantavius) Mitchell of Tuscaloosa, AL, Quran Taylor of Oxford, GA, Langston Mcllwain of Needham, AL, Kensley Mcllwain of Butler, AL: one great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Mitchell of Tuscaloosa, AL; one godson, Johnkaveon Mosley of Butler, AL: three brothers, Carl (Vera) Mosley, Chester Mosley, Danny Mosley, all of Butler, AL; three sisters, Willie Mae Maye, Jacquelyne Howard, and Glynis Mosley, all of Butler, AL; three brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; cousins; friends; special adopted family, the Lucille Mitchell family; and special friends and loved ones that he held dear to his heart, Lee Mott, Sammy Thomas, F.C. Kimbrough, Sloan Kimbrough, Louis Jones, Lanc McIlwain, and Robert Davis.

Graveside Service for Jessie (Boone) Chess was held at 11:00am on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at St. Thomas A.M.E. Zion Church Cemetery with Rev. Linda S. Lily officiating.

Jessie Chess, better known as “Boone”, was born July 13, 1952 to Ida Mae Chess and Joe Witherspoon.  He answered the master’s call on June 4, 2023 at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian, MS.  He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Joe, Oliver, Henry Witherspoon, Leslie Chess; and one grandson, Jamarcus Blakley.

He leaves to cherish his memories: three daughters, Shawanda, Latoya, and Rekha of GA; one sone, Chris Cunningham of Butler, AL; two children he reared as his own, Angel (Charles) Marzette of Pennington, AL and Fredrick Allen of MI; two brothers, James (Lillie) Chess, Cass (Betty) Chess of Ward, AL; four sisters, Jannie Thomas, Johnnie Chess, both of NY, Emma (Charles) Cottrell of Ward, AL, Donna (Gerald) Stallworth of Mobile, AL; one uncle, Chatt Chess of Livingston, AL; one sister-in-law, Marjorie Witherspoon, of Ward, AL; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
