She confessed Christ at an early age and united with the Fairview Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. L.W. Kennibrew, where she served faithfully as an usher, Sunday school teacher, and secretary until her death.

She was employed at multiple places. Her main focus of employment was the Choctaw County School System where she worked for years and later retired.  She didn’t allow her retirement to stop her from being a service for the Choctaw County School System.  She really loved working and being there as if it was her second home.

In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Nathan Brown and Samuel Hawkins Jr.; two sisters, Myra Walker and Annette Jackson; two sons-in-law, James Jackson, Sr. and Curtis Dixon.
