Graveside Service for Anitra Keeton-Adams, age 43, was held Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at New Mt. Mariah Baptist Church in Nanafalia, AL with Rev. Kelvin Johnson officiating.

Anitra Keeton-Adams was born on July 27, 1978 to Tommy and Janice Keeton in Butler, AL.  She departed this life on October 3, 2021 in Butler, AL.

Anitra joined Mt. Mariah Baptist Church at an early age.  She was a 1996 graduate of Choctaw County High School and furthered her education at Alabama Southern Community College in Thomasville, AL in the Nursing Program.  Anitra enjoyed working in the nursing field; she had a passion for nursing and caring for others.  At the time of her death, she was employed with Sumter Health and Rehab in York, AL. 

Anitra was married to Bruce Adams and two children, Iasiah and Icianna Adams, were born of this union. The marriage later ended.

Anitra leaves to cherish her loving memories: a son, Iasiah Adams, Butler, AL; a daughter, Icianna Adams, Butler, AL; parents, Tommy and Janice Keeton, Butler, AL; brothers, Tommy (Desiree) Keeton, Conroe, TX, Cristopher (Shanta) Keeton, Butler, AL; a special devoted friend, Michael Lewis, Butler, AL; uncles, Nelson Goines, Butler, AL, Benny Goines, Meridian, MS, Bob Goines, New Orleans, LA, Jeff (Diahan) Keeton; aunts, Vivian Smith, Butler, AL, Maranda (Alex) Coleman, Linda Keeton, Yvonie Keeton, Margaret Thomas, Odessa Goines, all of Butler, AL, Carolyn Goines, Toxey, AL, Terry Williams, New Orleans, LA, Annie Goines, Atlanta, GA; several devoted friends; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Josephine Tyson Lassiter

Graveside Service for Josephine Tyson Lassiter, age 84, was held on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Red House Memorial Garden in Butler, AL at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Raymond Sanders officiating.

Josephine Tyson Lassiter was born on September 11, 1937 to David and Mattie Tyson.  She departed this earthly life on October 1, 2021.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis Lassiter, Sr.; baby daughter, Holly Ann; her parents, David and Mattie Tyson; five brothers, Townsend, Frank, George, Hayse, and Lincoln; and numerous in-laws.

Josephine confessed Christ at an early age and joined Wesley United Methodist Church. In 1954, she married the Late Hollis Lassiter, Sr. and joined Little Zion A.M.E. Zion Church in Lavaca, AL.  She became an active member of Little Zion and served as church secretary for over 40 years.  She worked many years in the textile industry where she served as a union officer.  In later years, she worked at Golden Achievement Childcare Center.  Josephine was a three-time cancer survivor and was very active with Relay for Life.

She leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters, Letrell (Isiah) Peoples of Tuscaloosa, AL, Cheryl Lassiter of Lavaca, AL; two sons, Hollis Lassister, Jr., Lavaca, AL, Ronnie (Angela) Lassiter of Mobile, AL; grandchildren, Kristie Peoples, Ike Tulane Peoples, Mylo (Ann Marie) Lassiter, Hollis Lassiter, III, Mariah (Darry) Doss, Mahagony Thompson, Madison Lassiter; great grandchildren, Kameron Peoples, Cydnee Peoples, Khi Doss, Kacen Doss, Mylo John Lassiter; great- great grandchild, Kylar Peoples; five sisters; four sisters-in-law; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family and friends including her close friend of 67 years, Ms. Flora Vines.
