Funeral Services for Wils Johnson, Jr. were held Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at New Mt. Mariah Missionary Baptist Church, 40439 AL Highway 10, Sweetwater, AL 36782. Rev. Kelvin T. Johnson, Pastor & Officiant. Interment, New Mt. Mariah Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Nanafalia, AL.
Wils Johnson, Jr. was born January 20, 1945, to the late Wils and Inez Johnson.
He was employed for 41+ years at MacMillan Bloedel, which later became Weyerhaeuser in Yellow Bluff, Alabama.
Wils confessed Christ at an early and united with New Mt. Mariah Baptist Church where he attended until his health began to fail.
He was united in marriage to Carrie Belle Williams on December 21, 1968. This union was blessed with three children.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Wils and Inez Johnson; two (2) brothers: JL Johnson and David McIntosh; five (5) sisters: Daisy Lee Harris, Carolyn Johnson, Joan Johnson, Edna Ridgeway and Barbara Spencer.
On January 8, 2026, God called and Wils answered. He departed this life and entered eternal rest.
He leaves to cherish his memory: three children, Kelvin T. (Brenadette) Johnson of Nanafalia, Alabama; Tobia (Sharondia) Johnson of Sunny South, Alabama and Carmen (Jimmy) Lake of Decatur, Alabama; two (2) other children: Anthony Kennedy and Shaquita Harris. He will also be missed by his ten (10) grandchildren and ten (10) great-grandchildren; six (6) brothers: Jessie (Betty) Johnson, Charles Adams, Willie Adams, Bobby Adams, Lawrence Adams and Jim Norwood; five (5) sisters: Earleen Webb, Dorothy Preston, Vera Malloy, Cathy Lovett and Daisy Adams; also a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends; one devoted grandson: Shundarious Nolan and one devoted caregiver: Emma Chaney.
