Obituary

Funeral Service for Bro. Willie C. Ezell, age 87, was held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 12p.m. at Shiloh C.M.E. Church in Lisman, AL with Rev. Preston Ezell, Jr., officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Bro. Willie C. Ezell was born on August 22, 1936 to the late Eddie Ezell, Sr. and Betty Jackson Ezell in Choctaw County, Alabama. He was called home to rest on October 11, 2023 at his residence in Lisman, AL.

Willie graduated from Choctaw County Training School, formerly Lisman High School, in1954. Upon graduation, he ventured to Chicago, IL in search of gainful employment. After a few months, he returned to Choctaw County, AL andbegan working on the initial construction crew that built the Marathon Plant (now Georgia Pacific). Willie was employed at Georgia Pacific for 42 years which led to his well-deserved retirement in 1998. During his retiredyears, he enjoyed relaxing, gardening, and visiting family and friends. He also spent time visiting and volunteering at the local nursing home. He continued to attend church until his health declined.

Realizing the need for spiritual guidance, Willie confessed Christ at an early age and joined Shiloh Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, where he remained an active member until his death.

He united in marriage to the late Naomi W. Ezell, and to this union they were blessed with one son. In later years, he united in Holy Matrimony to the late Josephine R. Ezell. This union was blessed with six children.

He leaves to cherish his memories: one daughter, Jacquelyn Ezell of Columbus, GA; four sons, Douglas Ezell (Brenda), Lisman, AL; Tony Ezell (Diana), Meridian, MS; Willie Keith Ezell (Debbie), Lisman, AL; Ronnie Ezell (LaRoya), Huntsville, AL; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Daisy E. Dees, Jachin, AL; Lillie Barner, Lisman, AL; two daughters-in-law, Dianne Ezell (Reginald Ezell, deceased), Peggy Ezell (Alex Ezell, deceased); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and other community members who loved him dearly.
