Obituary

Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Willie D. Coleman was held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 – 12 p.m. in The Chapel of Weatherly-Studdard Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., Vanity Fair Avenue, Butler, Alabama with Rev. Samuel Duff, Officiating.

Mr. Willie D. Coleman was born on February 15, 1963, to Laurine Hampton and the late, Tommie Lee Hampton, Sr.

Willie D. Coleman, 60, of Butler, AL, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023, in Meridian, MS at Ochsner Rush Hospital with his loving fiancée, Vern, standing by his side.

Willie was a 1982 graduate of Choctaw County High School, Butler, AL. After graduating, he served in the United States Army. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Willie spent most of his time being a handy man for his family and working in his garden. He had a passion for having and working with older model cars. Willie had an enormous heart, and a wonderful sense of humor; he was generous, loyal, and loving.

He was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all life experiences: mechanic, handy man, gardener; he could do just about anything he was asked to do.

He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his family. He truly loved each of them, and if you knew him, you knew it. When his time came, he carried himself with dignity, strength, and full of love for those who went before him. He will be missed dearly.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories: fiancée, Laverne Hampton; 2 sons, Jeremy Coleman and Zachary (Trinity) Coleman, Cleveland, OH; 3 grandchildren, Jacoby Coleman, Terrell Burrage, and Bryanne Rudolph; his mother, Laurine Hampton, Butler, AL; 2 brothers, Leon (Yolanda) Hampton, Birmingham, AL; Mark Hampton, Butler, AL; 2 sisters, Bobbie (James) Luden, Butler, AL; Cynthia Hampton, Butler, AL; 1 stepbrother, Hollie (Susie) Hampton, Lisman, AL; 3 stepsisters, Pearlina (Johnny) Vines, Lavaca, AL; Ann Doty, Chicago, IL; Earline Hampton, Tuscaloosa, AL; and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, and family members.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Tommie Lee Hampton, Sr.; 3 stepbrothers, Tommie Lee Hampton, Jr., Robert Hampton, and Walter Hampton.
