Wilcox "Bill" Steele was born to the late Mattie B Gaines and Dunk Steele Sr. on June 3, 1963.

Bill entered in eternal rest on February 15, 2026, at his residence in Atlanta, Georgia.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents Mattie B Gaines and Dunk Steele Sr; brothers; Curtis Cowan, Clifford Cowan, Donzler Steele, Johnny Steele, and Dunk Steele Jr, sisters, Pennie E Gaines, Helen Thorton, and Brenda Dixon; and brother-in-law, Michael Soles.

He worked at Ezell's Fish Camp for several years and upon leaving Alabama in 1997, he later began working in the barrel industry for 25+ years in Atlanta, Georgia.

Bill leaves to cherish two brothers; Jerry (Sally) Cowan, Butler, Alabama and Mike Dixon, Lisman, Alabama; Two sisters Pearl (Travis) Steele, Pennington, Alabama, Margaret Soles, Birmingham, Alabama; one sister-in-law Kallie Holt of Butler, Alabama and one brother-in-law Charles Malone of Sweet Water, Alabama; a very special and devoted nephew, Larry Cowan of Atlanta, Georgia; special friends throughout high school, Celeste Patterson, Melvina Hudson, and Leonard Ruffin; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
