Obituary

Memorial Graveside Service was held for Travis Bernard McGrew on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Kaiser Hill Cemetery, 6115 Melvin Road, Gilbertown, Alabama with Rev. Cleo McGrew, Sr., Officiating.

Travis Bernard McGrew was born on December 4, 1964, to the late William Henry McGrew and Ada Crosby McGrew, who preceded him in death.

He departed this life on April 17, 2026, at his home in the Shady Grove Community in Silas, Alabama.

He joined Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church at a young age, where he remained a member until his death.

After graduating from Southern Choctaw High School in Silas, Alabama, he decided to join the U.S. Army National Guard.  He was employed with the Alabama Department of Transportation.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories, one devoted son: Travis Bernard (Brandy) McGrew, Jr. of Mobile, Alabama; two loving and devoted daughters: LaChanda (Darrayl) Grove of Mobile, Alabama and Chrystal (Dereyon) Lewis of Houston, Texas; three devoted and loving grandchildren, whom he adored: Gracelynn, Brandy, and Ivy; nine devoted and loving sisters and brothers: Josephine (Henry) Martin of Louisville, Kentucky; Shirley (John B.) Foster of Atlanta, Georgia; Lillie V. Stanford of Huntsville, Alabama; Sylvester (Joyce) McGrew of Silas, Alabama (Shady Grove); Shenetta (Henry B.) Mitchell of Silas, Alabama (Flatwood); Henry (Addie) McGrew of Quitman, Mississippi; Reginald (Valerie) McGrew of Butler, Alabama; Cassandra (George) Steiner of Columbus, Georgia; Terry McGrew of Silas, Alabama (Shady Grove); along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
