Funeral service for Townsend Wilcox, Jr., age 81, were held Friday, December 9, 2022 at 11:00 am at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Butler, AL with Min. Willie Pringle officiating. Interment followed atButler Chapel A ME Zion Church Cemetery.

Affectionately known as "Mank", Townsend Jr. was born February 9, 1941 to Townsend Sr. and LillieWilcox. He departed this life on
December 1, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Townsend Sr and Lillie Wilcox; a sister, Mary Wilcox; and brothers, Wilbert and James Wilcox.

Townsend Jr. professed hope in Christ at an early age, being baptized at Butler Chapel AME Zion Church. He received his education in the East Choctaw School System. After graduation, Townsend Jr. worked with the City of Butler until his retirement in 1994. After retirement, he enjoyed hunting, gardening, making preserves, and spending time with family and friends.

Townsend Jr. is survived by his wife of 36 years, Shirley Wilcox; siblings, Martha Wilcox, Loretta McDaniels, Orease Wilcox, Luther Wilcox (Charline), and Gloria Wilcox; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
