Graveside Service for Toney Deland Collins, age 63, were held Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Wahalak Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Shern Collins officiating.
Toney Collins was born December 9, 1958 to Samuel Lipscomb and Louella Collins-Hatch in Riderwood, AL. He was reared by his maternal grandparents, Corine and Roger Collins and his paternal grandmother, Victoria Marsh. Toney recently transitioned from this earthly
place to his heavenly home.
Toney was one among the first group of students to integrate the Choctaw County School System. He graduated from Choctaw County High School in Butler, AL. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served four years.
Toney experienced many career paths; however, it was during his work with his cousin and uncles in Detroit, MI that he discovered his true passion, home renovation. Toney used his considerable talents to create and prepare work for many. Oftentimes travelling with his tools to many places to help others.
Toney is survived by his devoted and loyal friend, Patricia Ashu; his father, Samuel Lipscomb; sister, Tisha Hatch Lovelace; brother, Carlos Hatch, Jr., both of Bronx, NY; aunts, Ida Collins McCoy of Washington, DC, Agnes Jackson of Dolton, IL, Virginia Collins of Fairburn, GA;
and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
