Funeral services for Thomas E. Tanks, 81, formerly of Choctaw County, Alabama were held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at John the Baptist Church in Lisman, Alabama with Rev. Larrie M. Lovell of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Miami, Florida  officiating. The internment followed in Fairfield Cemetery in Lisman, Alabama.

Thomas E. Tanks, affectionately known as Tom, was born on February 28, 1944 to the late Jeremiah Tanks and the late Lucille Campbell Long in Halsell, Alabama. He was raised by his aunt, Creecy Borden, and his stepmom, Maeola Tanks.

At an early age, Tom joined and was baptized at John the Baptist Church. After marrying Martha Ann Watson, they moved to Miami, Florida where they made their home for over 60 years. After making Miami his home, Tom joined Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Brownsville. He served as President of the Trustees Board for many years.

Tom worked for Grand Union Warehouse for many years until it closed. He then opened his own business, Little River Janitorial Service. He worked for Miami Dade School System as a custodian until he retired. He later worked as a school crossing guard.

Tom passed from this earthly life on April 12, 2025. He is survived by: a son, Darryl Tanks; sisters, Olivia Tanks, Jeanette and Peggy; brothers, Willie D. Tanks (Olester), James, Ricky, Erroll (Betty) and David; and grandchildren, Ariel, Lytrell and Lydell Tanks; and a host of other relatives and friends.
