Thomas Nicholson

Thomas (Pookie) Nicholson was born April 07, 1954, to the late Bennie Thornton Sr. and Ruthie Mae Jones. He departed this life on Wednesday, August 05, 2026 at UAB Hospital. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie Thornton and Ruthie Mae Jones; brothers, Bill Thornton, Bennie Thornton Jr., and Larry Thornton and a grandson, Perryea Williams. 

Thomas never met a stranger and was a big talker. He loved watching old Westerns and stayed watching Bonanza and Gunsmoke. 

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie Thornton and Ruthie Mae Jones; brothers, Bill Thornton, Bennie Thornton Jr., and Larry Thornton and a grandson, Perryea Williams. 

He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Maxie Nicholson; six daughters, L'Juanna Napier, Takaisha Napier, Tosha Napier (Roy) Bush, Tiffani (David) Elkourie, Danyel Williams, and Nicole Williams; two sisters, Betty Simmons and Katina (Joe) Howell; one brother, Elgin Thornton; thirteen grandchildren, Tamrin (Thomas), Kedric, Tia, Alexis, Devontia, Dwight III, Cordarius, De'Andre, Zacaria, David, Perryeashe, Amarye, and Zacharia; four great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and  friends.
