Graveside Service for Rocile Compton, Jr. were held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Howard Cemetery, Sweetwater, Alabama, with Rev. Richard Lankster, Officiating.
Rocile Compton, Jr. was born February 27, 1953, to the late Rocile Compton, Sr. and Effie Carter Compton in Myrtlewood, Alabama.
Rocile confessed Christ at an early age and joined the James Chapel AME Zion Church in Sweetwater, Alabama and later joined The Beautiful Star A.M.E. Zion Methodist Church in Sweetwater, Alabama. He graduated from Marengo High School, Class of 1971 in Dixons Mills, Alabama.
Rocile served in the United States Army, he was a retired veteran, and he took being a veteran very serious. He worked at BF Goodrich in Tuscaloosa, Alabama for over 10 years, where he later retired.
Rocile went home to rest on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Regency Retirement Home in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Rocile was preceded in death by his father, Rocile Compton, Sr.; brother, Allen Wayne Compton; one son, Javonick Compton, one aunt, Amanda Compton; two uncles, Rev. Joe Spencer and Herbert Compton.
Rocile leaves to cherish his memories: his loving mother, Mrs. Effie Carter Compton; 6 children, Charles (LaTandra) Compton of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; Marlon Compton of Birmingham, Alabama; Terrance (Kimkisha) Morgan of Butler, Alabama; one daughter, Shakaria Charley (Mario) Mitchell of Atlanta, Georgia; twins, Kelvin Compton of Augusta, Georgia and Calvin Compton of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; 4 siblings, Mary Doss of Linden, Alabama; Bonnie Faye (Tony) Thomas of Bartlett, Tennessee; Bobby (Patricia) Compton of Linden, Alabama and Billy (Nora) Compton of Butler, Alabama; 17 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; 2 aunts, Bertha Spencer of Memphis, Tennessee and Sadie Jackson of Myrtlewood, Alabama; sister-in-law, Judy Compton of Linden, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
