Ricky D. Ward was born on February 12, 1972 in Butler, AL to the late Willie M Ward-Shields and Curtis
Dixon. He departed this earthly life on September 10, 2022 at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian, MS. He was preceded in death by his mother,, Willie M. Shields; father, Curtis Dixon; and grandfather, Johnnie L. Ward, Sr.

Ricky confessed Christ at an early age and became a member of the St. Mark C.M.E. Church in Lisman, AL. He attended Lisman Jr. High School and Choctaw County High School. He earned a certification in small engine repair.

He leaves to cherish his memories: a Stepfather, Donald Shields, Sr., Lavaca, AL; a sister, Salena Shields, Tuscaloosa, AL; a brother, Donald Shields, Jr., Jackson, MS; a grandmother, Essie O. Ward, Lisman, AL; two uncles, Johnnie L. Ward, Jr., Montgomery, AL, Jason (Angela) Ward, Lisman, AL; an aunt, Ada Ward, Toxey, AL; and other aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
