Obituary

A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Brother Ollie Dickinson was held Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 11:00am at Weatherly-Studdard Memorial Funeral Home, Inc. in Butler, AL.

Brother Ollie Dickinson was born September 22, 1955in Butler, Alabama to the late Lewis Thomas and Julia Mae Dickinson.  He departed this earthly life on September 1, 2024.  He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Clarence, Floyd, and Roy Dickinson; and two sisters, Zeola and Cynthia Dickinson.

Ollie graduated from Choctaw County High School.  Shortly after graduation, he served his country I the National Guard.  He was a celebrated entrepreneur while living in Atlanta, Ga.  He enjoyed running his own business and being free to explore his creative side.

At an early age, Ollie was truly passionate when it came to drawing and music.  He started a local band while in high school.  Ollie taught himself to play the piano and organ. Throughout his life he wrote many songs and seized every opportunity to play his music for the local community.  He was enthusiastic about sharing his music among his church families.

Ollie leaves to cherish his memory: his son, Ken; two sisters, Crystal Dickinson Toney and Brenda Dickinson Lockett; two brothers, Thomas Dickinson and Horace Dickinson;   three sisters-in-law, Belinda Dickinson, Mildred Dickinson, and Sherri Dickinson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
