Funeral Service for Nolie Cain (Sonny) Carter was held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s United Methodist Church, 23955 Highway 10, Butler, Alabama with Pastor Clovis Snowden, Officiating. Interment, St. Mary’s United Methodist Church Cemetery, 23955 Highway 10, Butler, Alabama.

The Late Nolie Cain Carter was born in Lavaca, Alabama on December 19, 1944, to the late Roosevelt Carter, Sr. and Ellen Ridgeway Carter.

After graduating from Lisman Training School. He joined the armed services in the United States Army and served in Korea in the Vietnam Era; from there he served at Fort Carson, Colorado and received the rank of E-5 SGT.

His father, mother, one brother, and three sisters preceded him death.

He leaves to cherish his memory: three brothers, Roosevelt (Pamela) Carter, Carl Carter, and Christopher (Betty) Carter; three sisters: Dorothy Raatz, Vera Mosley, and Johnnie (Willie) Horn; and a host of nieces (one devoted, Tracy Chaney), nephews, and other relatives and friends.
