Funeral service for Mary Magdalene Jackson (Hildreth), age 71, was held on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at 1:00 pm at St. Thomas A.M.E. Zion Church in Ward, AL with Pastor Linda Sims-Lilly officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Mary Jackson (Hildreth) was born March 10, 1952 to the union of Doc and Minnie Nettles. She departed this life on April 4, 2023 at Rush Hospital in Meridian, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents, Doc and Minnie Nettles; sisters, Peggy Nettles, Otha Ruffin, Louise Chess; brothers, Doc Nettles, Jr., Dan Johnson, William Nettles, Bennie Nettles, Robert Nettles, and Walter Fluker.

Mary confessed Christ and joined Edna Mission Methodist Church (which later became St. Thomas A.M.E. Zion Church) at an early age. She was a devoted member and served on the Usher Board. Mary attended English Spring Elementary School and East Choctaw Junior High School. She worked as a presser in a sewing factory in Linden, AL. She was always willing to help others by being a caregiver or transporting them to run errands.

Mary was married to Tee Arthur Hildreth and to this union four children were born.

Mary leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Thomas Jackson of Ward, AL; four children, Shirley Hildreth of Ward, AL, Arthur Hildreth of Medina, OH, Tyrone (Mistina) Hildreth of Chesterfield, VA, Timothy (Lakisha) Hildreth of Jacksonville, FL, and Shalanda (Jerry) Patterson of Cleveland, OH whom she raised as her own child; fifteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; sisters, Sally Spencer of Ward, AL, Lillie Harper of Cleveland, OH, Nellie (Tommie) Gibbs of Savoy, MS; brother-in-law, Willie McRand; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
