Sister Martha Hill was born on July 28, 1954, in Butler, Alabama to L.C. Philon and Lela Gilmore.

She joined Shady Grove Baptist Church at an early and attended for many years. She was a faithful and dedicated woman of God. As an usher, she greeted everyone with a beautiful smile, making them feel welcomed as they entered the house of the Lord for worship. She was the treasurer for the Senior Mission Department, and she was also a member of the Hospitality Committee. She loved praising God and thanking God for all the blessings he had given her, each day of her life.

Martha was married to Floyd Moore Jr. and from this union they raised two beautiful daughters, Tyra C. Moore-McGee and Sanethra C. Moore-Butler.

Martha later married Norris Hill on March 28, 2010.

She had a big heart and a special love for people. She would help anyone by ensuring that they had food or whatever was needed. Martha had a passion for sewing; she worked as a seamstress for many years. She took pride in whatever she did; she was a great homemaker, and she did it with pride. Most of all, she loved God, and she served as an usher, greeting people with a smile, helping wherever needed. She attended church until her health failed. Martha loved her husband and enjoyed their fishing trips and working in the yard together. She loved her azalea flowers; she had many hobbies and enjoyed all of them with her husband. Martha always spoke about her children and grandchildren with a smile; she was very proud of her family.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents: Mr. L.C. Philon and Mrs. Lela Philon; one brother-in-law, Willie Wimberly.

She leaves to cherries her memories: husband, Mr. Norris Hill Silas, AL; five amazing, wonderful daughters, Tyra M. McGee (Jermaine), Sanethra C. Moore Butler (Robert) of VA, Linda Patterson (Wayne), Stephanie Randolph (Bernard), and Lisa Hill; one special loving sister: Geraldine Wimberly, Lisman, AL; several amazing awesome grandchildren: Xavier and Orion McGee, Jade (Isiah Conway) Mason Butler, Jordan Butler, Darius Butler, all of VA; a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, that loved her very much; a special cousin, Nell.
