Service for Luke Bryant, age 101, was held Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Fairfield C.M.E. Church in Halsell, AL with Rev. Richard D. Shaw, officiating. Interment followed in the Fairfield C.M.E. Church Cemetery.

Bro. Luke Bryant, affectionately known as "LB", was born on May 8, 1920 to the late Lizzie and Luke Bryant in Sumter County, Alabama. He departed this life on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at Sumter Health and Rehab in York, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his
parents; his wife; two sons, John Lewis and Luke Jr.; six sisters; and six brothers. Bro. Luke confessed Christ at an early age and joined Fairfield C.M.E. Church in Halsell, AL where he remained a faithful member until his health began to fail.

Bro. Luke was married to the late Mary Thornton Bryant. He served in the Army Air Force as an engineer from 1942 until 1945. He was a proud World War II veteran and loved sharing stories of his military career.

He is survived by five daughters, Lola Tanks of Halsell, AL, Rosa Farrell of Edgewood, MD, Mary Tanks of Halsell, AL, Patricia (Charles) Law of Forney, TX, and Rita (Philip) Ertha of Halsell, AL; three sons, Willie (Etheria) Bryant of Halsell, AL, Idrain Bryant of Hempstead, NY, and Thomas (Kathy) Bryant of Daphne, AL; twenty-three grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; five great- great grandchildren; a devoted niece, Lurese Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. `
