Obituary

Lozita Smith Bush was born on July 28, 1964, in Choctaw County, Alabama, to the late Herman Dukes and the late Mary Smith O'Field.  She peacefully departed this earthly life on July 11, 2025, at Prattville Health and Rehabilitation Center in Prattville, AL. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Eddie Smith Dukes, Leonard Brown and five sisters, Brenda O' Field, Nancy Ezell, Shirley Ann O' Field, Anita Gayle Rodgers,   and Teresa Jones.

Affectionately known as "Lo", Lozita was a woman full of life, warmth, and personality.  She was educated in the Choctaw School System.

At an early age, Lozita confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined First Baptist Church in Lisman, AL where her faith remained a guiding light throughout her life.  She was married to Andrew Roy Bush.  From this union, three children were born.

She was well known for her vibrant spirit and infectious laughter. Lozita had a natural gift for when surrounded by loved ones, a phone in her hand, making everyone feel welcome.  She cherished her time with family and was happiest when surrounded by loved ones with a phone in hand, and something delicious cooking in the kitchen.  An avid cook and baker, she collected and tested countless recipes over the years, leaving behind a culinary  legacy that her family will always remember.

Her memory will forever be cherished by: her children, Talisa (Christopher) Thompson of Elk City, OK; Andrew (Alicia) Bush, Jr of Ludowici, GA; and Christopher (Mandi) Bush of Millbrook, AL; eleven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Walter O' Field, Jr. of Mobile, AL and Danny (Revlon) Brown of Meridian, MS; five sisters, Debra Chaney of Cleveland, OH, Emma Jean Watson of Butler, AL, Brendanita Jones of Pennington, AL, Shaneka Goodwin-McIntosh of Biloxi, MS and Patricia Moss of Prattville, AL; a godson, Travis Hazewood;  and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family who loved her dearly including those holding a special place in her heart: nieces, Shaquita Jones, Alisha Marshall, Camisha Smith and nephews, Tiwan Jones, Eddie (BJ) Smith, La' Baron Rodgers, and Billy O' Field; and dear friends who became like family, Maryann O' Field Fitch and Joe Drake.
