Funeral Services for Sister LaTandra Denise Compton (Tammy) was held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Christian Fellowship Baptist Church, 12379 County Road 32, Lisman, Alabama with Dr. Lenoise Richey, Officiating. Dr. Robert Webb, Sr., Pastor. Interment, Woodall Cemetery, Pennington, Alabama.
Sister LaTandra Denise Compton well known as, “Tammy,” was born September 27, 1970, to the parents of Micheal Talley and Annie Turner in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Tammy was a graduate of Class of 1988 from Choctaw County High School, Butler AL.
She confessed her life to Christ at an early age and became a member of Millwood Primitive Baptist Church. She departed her life Wednesday afternoon, July 29, 2026, at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Tammy lived with kindness and joy in her heart. She had a gift for making people feel seen, heard, and valued, whether through a warm smile, a listening ear, or a thoughtful gesture. Also, a few things she loved were God, family, fashion, and baking her delicious pound cakes.
She leaves to cherish her devoted husband: Charles Compton; one beloved son: JaJuan (Darilyn) Tavarez of Northport, Alabama; five stepchildren, that she dearly loved: Challis Compton, Charquell Compton, Jered Simmons, Henry Simmons Jr., and Jaylen Williams; her precious mother: Annie Turner of Butler, Alabama; one special sister: Monica (Ricky) Nicholson of Butler, Alabama; one brother: Lafredrick (Shenan) Turner of Plano, Texas; one auntie: Dorothy Kisitu of Cincinnati, OH; three uncles: James Turner of York, AL, Leandrew (Gladys) Dukes of Miami, Florida, and Eddie (Branda) Turner of Memphis, Tennessee; four brothers-in-law: Marlon Compton, Calvin Compton, Kelvin Compton, and Terry Morgan; a host of grandchildren, special nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; two best friends: Fontella Hampton and Bernice Jones.
She was preceded in death by her father-in-love: Mr. Coley Dukes; father-in-law: Mr. Rocille Compton.
