Lamar was born on Saturday, August 12, 1950 to Annie Ruth and Lamar C. Glenn, Sr. He departed this earthly life on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at his residence after an extended battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was preceded in death by his parents, Annie and Lamar C. Glenn, Sr.; mother-in-law, Elmira Moss; and a sister, Teresa Glenn.
Lamar accepted Christ at an early age. He joined Little Hope Baptist Church and later was under watch-care at Gilfield Baptist Church. He was a 1968 graduate of Choctaw County Training School in Lisman, AL. After graduation, Lamar entered the United States Army. He
served his country well and was honorably discharged.
In 1970, Lamar married his high school sweetheart, Wanda Moss, and the couple moved to Columbus, OH. Their union was blessed with three children. Lamar was an excellent provider and instilled in his children the value of an education and hard work. He took pride in providing for his wife and children. He was an officer with the Columbus (OH) Police Department. In addition to working as a Patrol Officer, his assignments included being a Detective in the Burglary Unit and a Sergeant in the Motorcycle Unit. Lamar retired from the department
with thirty-two years of dedicated service.
Lamar was a member of Second Baptist Church where he served as a member of the Music Ministry. He was also a Master Mason and a member of St. Mark Lodge #7.
He leaves to celebrate hislegacy: his wife of 50 years, Wanda Glenn; children, Steven (Kenya) Glenn of Olive Branch, MS, Patrick (Shemeka) Glenn and Melanie (Eric) Gunther, both of Columbus, OH; siblings, Alfred (Catherine) Glenn of Yantley, AL, Eddie Carl (Roxanne) Glenn of Columbus, OH, Lavelle (Herman) Gaines of Butler, AL, Robert (Gloria) Glenn of Pushmataha, AL, Michael Glenn of Columbus, OH; brother-in-law, Gregory (Oleather) Moss of Huntsville, AL; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
