Funeral Service for Jessie Lee Bonner-Sledge were held on Saturday, May 19, 2023 at the Mt. Mariah Baptist Church, 6800 Melvin Road, Gilbertown, AL with Rev. Dr. Hal Hayes, Pastor & Officiant. Interment, Kaiser Hill Cemetery, Melvin, AL.

Jessie Lee Jones was born on January 20, 1929 to Jimmy Lee & Carlee Jones in Carmichael, Mississippi.

She joined Mt. Mariah Baptist Church at an early age and attended for many years. She loved praising God and thanking God for all the blessings he gave her.

Jessie Lee was married to Floyd Moore, and from this union they raised eight children. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Ruby Moore, and three sons, James E. Thomas, Floyd Moore, Jr., and James P. Moore.

Jessie Lee later married John T. Sledge. He preceded her in death on May 17, 2005.

She had a special love for children, and she would help anyone. She would always make sure you had food to eat, and a place to stay. Momma opened her doors to many people during her lifetime. She had a heart of kindness and didn't mind sharing. She loved to dress nice and was known for the most "Beautiful Lady in a Hat." That's our momma!

She leaves to cherish her memories: four children, Gladys Foster of Toxey, AL; Pearlie Moore of Detroit, MI; Rogennia (Lee) Roscoe of Toxey, AL; Claude (Hazel) Moore of Butler, AL; more than twenty (20) grandchildren, a very special grandson, Caleb Lee Roscoe; a dedicated granddaughter, Angela Moore; more than forty (40) great-grandchildren, and eleven (11) great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
