Funeral service for James Nelson Goines, age 72, was held Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 11:00am at New Mt. Mariah Baptist Church in Sweet Water, AL with Pastor Kelvin Johnson officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

James Nelson Goines was born August 24, 1950 in Nanafalia, AL to the late B.R. and Icyphine Goines. He was called from labor to reward on Ja nuary4, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, B.R. and Icyphine Goines; three brothers, John, SJ, and Joe Goines; and three sisters, Lucille Chaney, Nellie Rivers, and Aller Blanks.

James confessed Christ at an early age, being baptized at New Mt. Mariah Baptist Church. After reaching adulthood, he became a devoted
Deacon.

He worked at several different companies but was an employee of Georgia Pacific for 47 years, where he never called in or was late to his job.

James leaves to cherish his memory: two sisters, Vivian Smith and Janice Keeton, both of Butler, AL; two brothers, Benny Goines of Meridian, MS and Bob Goines of New Orleans, LA; and a host of nieces (one devoted, Marilyn Jackson, who also served as Caregiver) , nephews, cousins and other family and friends.
