Freeman Shields was born February 8, 1946, to Anell and Howard Shields. He went home to be with the Lord on June 29, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anell and Howard Shields and three siblings, Howard Shields, Jr., Pearlie Shields and Billy Shields.
Freeman attended East Choctaw School. He spent most of his adult life in New York before moving back home to Alabama in 1990.
Freeman leaves to cherish his memories: three daughters: Tania Shields Espinosa, Cheryl Shields Williams (Walter), and Carol Shields Washington (James), all of New York; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; seven siblings, Henry Shields (Hattie) of Lavaca, Alabama; Ronald Shields (Barbara) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; Donald Shields of Lavaca, Alabama; Larry Shields of Lavaca, Alabama; Betty White of Lavaca, Alabama; Inell Grayson (Richard) of Dixons Mills, Alabama; Carolyn Rowry (Robert) of Lavaca, Alabama; two aunts, Joyce Clifton of Lafayette, Indiana and Mary Thomas of Long Beach, California; a devoted cousin, Melvina Hudson of Chandler, Arizona; very devoted friends, Diane and Frederick Amos of Meridian, Mississippi and a very dedicated caregiver and devoted friend, James Donnie Watson of Meridian, Mississippi. Freeman also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
