Obituary

Celebration of Life Services for Frederick DeLawn Spears was held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 12 p.m. at Butler Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, 713 DeSoto Road, Butler, Alabama.  Rev. Kennith B. Jefferson, Pastor & Officiant.  Interment, Butler Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church Cemetery.

Frederick DeLawn Spears was born in Butler, Alabama on February 26, 1972, to Golden Mitchell Wilcox Spears and the late James Earl Spears, Sr.  Fred joined Butler Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church during his early childhood, where he nurtured his faith and commitment to service.

Fred completed his formal education at Choctaw County High School in Butler, Alabama.  After high school, he dedicated himself to serving others as a volunteer firefighter.  His career spanned various roles, including working in the auto sales industry at Stewart Motor Company, serving as an Auxiliary Deputy Sheriff and Civil Process Server for the Choctaw County Sheriff Department, and working as a Funeral Services Apprenticeship at Weatherly-Studdard Memorial Funeral Home, Inc.  His entrepreneurial spirit led him to start his own towing service business, which he was deeply passionate about.

Fred was a faithful member of the Masonic Order under the guidance of his father, James Earl Spears, Sr.  Fred's life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family and community.

He married his lovely wife, the late Bridget Spears (Campbell), and together they built a life centered around love and service.  Fred was known for his selflessness, always putting others before himself, and his ability to bring laughter and joy, even on the toughest days.

He is preceded in death by his father, James Earl Spears, Sr.; wife, Bridget Spears; father-in-law, Richard E. Campbell and brother-in-law, Roy Campbell.

God called his faithful servant Home, to a time of rest and reward on Thursday, July 3, 2025.  Fred leaves to cherish his precious memory: his children, Dykerrious Ruffin, Raven Spears, Ka'Lea Causey, Shacaria Campbel, JaCorey Mcintosh and Miracle Mcintosh; three grandchildren, Sylar Stovall, Dykerria Ruffin and Tahj Harr; devoted mother, Golden Mitchell Spears; three devoted brothers, Quintin Wilcox, Maurice Spears (Valarie) and James Earl Spears, Jr. (Elonna).
