Funeral Services for Fred Blakley, Sr., age 86, of Lisman, AL, were held Saturday, May 18, 2024 @ 11:00am at Gilfield Missionary Baptist Church in Lisman, AL with Rev. Clarence Gary officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Fred Blakley, Sr was born August 14, 1937 to the late Pink and Alice Ruffin Blakley in Butler, AL. He gained his heavenly wings on the night of May 13, 2024 at Ochsner Choctaw Hospital in Butler, AL.

Fred graduated from Lisman Training School in 1956 and was activated into the Army Reserve in 1961 in the Engineering unit for the Berlin Crisis. He served six years in the Army before being honorably discharged.

He was married to the late Irene Ruffin Blakley and to this union two children were born, Fred Blakley and Patrick Blakley, Sr. Fred was a faithful and supportive husband and would do anything for his family. He was employed with Georgia Pacific Corporation for over twenty-eight years. He also had a love for farming and livestock. His property was filed with cows, mules, pigs, and sheep, just to name a few. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and recycling aluminum.

Fred leaves to cherish his memories: his sons, Frederick (Geraldine) Rackley and Patrick Blakley, Sr., both of Lisman, AL; brothers, Willie (Willie Ruth) Blakley, Pink (Gwendolyn) Blakley, Jr., Horace (Minnie) Blakley, Sr., George (Arlene) Blakley; three sisters, Jean (James) Ridgeway, Charlesdean Curtis-Tanks, Mary (Jeremiah) Edwards, all of Lisman, AL; in-laws, Doris Ruffin, Rodie (Edith) Ruffin,, Rose (Ernest, Sr.) Ross, and James Ruffin; two grandsons, Frederick (Brittany) Rackley, Jr. and Patrick Blakley, Sr.; two granddaughters, Jennifer (Terry) Smith and Sandra Rackley; thirteen great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Ruffin Blakley; a son, Fred Blakley, Jr; a grandson, JaMarcus Blakley; three brothers, Dan Ray, Bennie Blakley, Daniel Blakley; one sister, Sally Cook; and in-laws, Fred and Lucille Ruffin, Sr, Fred Ruffin, Jr.,and Lula Faye Ruffin.
