Edna Ridgeway was born December 4, 1947, to the late Inez and Wils Johnson, both who preceded her in death.

Edna joined Mt. Mariah Baptist Church at an early age, where she remained faithful until the decline in her health.

She was married to the late Nelson Ridgeway.  She was a determined and passionate nurse until retirement from Sumter County Nursing Home, York, Alabama.

Edna was preceded in death by her sisters, Daisy Harris, Margaret Compton, Barbara Spencer, and Joan Johnson; two brothers, J.L. Johnson and David McIntosh.

On Friday, July 19, 2024, Edna transitioned to her heavenly home.

She leaves to cherish her memory: three sons, Jerry Edwards, Jr., North Carolina, Kenneth Edwards, Connecticut, and Bradford Johnson, New York; seventeen grandchildren, four (4) granddaughters, who were just like daughters to her, Kenisha Johnson, Jakya' Todd Shoot, Shavona Edwards, and Aaliyah Edwards; fifteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Earlean Webb, Sweet Water, AL; two brothers, Wils Johnson, Jr., Nanafalia, AL and Jessie (Betty) Johnson, Butler, AL; three sisters-in-law, Betty Williams, Liz Keeton, and Wanda Ridgeway; four brothers-in-law, Johnny (Callie) Ridgeway, Bernie (Rose) Ridgeway, Willie (Annie) Ridgeway, Marcus (Pennye) Duncan; a devoted niece, Everlyn Robinson, Sweet Water, AL; her best friend, Dorothy Landrum, Detroit, MI; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
