Service for Earlean Chess Weatherspoon, age 62, was held Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 11:00a.m. at St. Thomas A.M.E. Zion Church in Ward, Alabama with Pastor Linda Sims-Lilly officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Earlean was born on June 12, 1959 to the late Richard and Thelma Chess-Capers in Choctaw County, Alabama. She gained her wings on December 15, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents and two nieces, Monica Dale Ruffin and Marcella Chess.

Earlean confessed her faith in Christ at an early age and joined Mount Valley A.M.E. Zion Church. She later moved her membership to Greater Edna Mission A.M.E. Zion Church which was later named St. Thomas A.M.E. Zion Church. She was a faithful servant of the church. She served as Secretary for more than 20 years; Christian Education for the Youth, Deaconess, Steward Board and Trustee Board, Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member and she also rendered service as the Preacher Stewart.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Bernard Weatherspoon; two children, Rontavis Chess, Ashley Weatherspoon; grandchildren, Alaysha Weatherspoon, Braxton Chess; eight siblings, Jeraldine (Willie C) Law, Bobby (the Late Doris ) Chess, Willie (Eva)
Chess, Joann Chess, Shirley (Ronnie) Richardson, Richard (Angela) Chess, Kelvin Chess, Marvin (Glenda) Chess; and a host of nieces and nephews.
