Graveside service for Sister Della Johnson, age 80, was held Thursday, April 20, 2023 at 11:00am at Ward Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Ward, AL with Min. Sam Davis serving as Eulogist.

Della Johnson was born April 13, 1943 In Edna, AL to the late Essie Mae Jackson and John Hill. She was called home to be with the Lord on April 13, 2023 at Anderson Hospital in Meridian, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents, Essie Mae Jackson and John Hill; two sons, Charlie Johnson, Sean Johnson; four brothers, Lorenzo Jackson, Percy Jackson, Leroy Jackson, Willie Lee Jackson; and one sister, Dorothy Fuller.

Della loved the Lord and confessed her faith at an early age. She faithfully served church until her health began to fail. She loved laughter, good humor, and riddles. She was known in her community as a very dependable person. She was just a phone call away to give a ride to anyone, whether to the doctor, the store or anywhere. She checked on the sick and shut in. Her pleasure in life was doing God's work by helping others. She was the local Avon lady and she retired from Georgia Pacific where she worked for many years.

Della is survived by her grandson, Gregory Johnson of Myrtle Beach, SC; granddaughter, KeKe Johnson of Myrtle Beach, SC; great grandson, Kaleb Johnson; five sisters, Dorothy Jackson, Sadie S. Jackson, Dawnella Jackson, all of Pennington, AL, Diane Fuller of Rome, GA, Della Fuller of Birmingham, AL; one brother, Thomas Jackson of Pennington, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
