Funeral Service for Sister Charlie Mae Jackson Tyson were held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church, 4387 Ararat Road, Toxey, Alabama 36921 with Rev. Bobby Sanders, Officiating. Interment, St. John CME Church Cemetery, Butler, Alabama.
Sister Charlie Mae Jackson Tyson was the oldest of nine children born July 29, 1933, to the late Reverend Charlie Lee Jackson and Julia Woodard Jackson of Butler, Alabama. She entered eternal life on October 18, 2024, in Butler, Alabama.
She confessed Christ at an early age joining St. John CME Church. After marriage, to the late Frank Wesley Tyson, she moved her membership to Wesley United Methodist. Later, she joined and worshipped at Northside Church of Christ for many years and recently rejoined Wesley United Methodist Church. Sister Tyson loved to read her Bible and often said that her favorite Book of The Bible was Psalms.
Her formal education was received at Choctaw County Training School Lisman, Alabama. She had a strong work ethic. Owned her own businesses. She worked at Soloman and Brothers Manufacturing and became a certified Nurse's Assistant and later worked in private nursing care. After her retirement, she devoted her life to family, friends, quilting, and cooking, especially her delicious peach cobbler.
She was preceded in death by daughter, Janet McLemore, granddaughter, Tometha Faulk Onyeka; sisters: Emma Jackson and Mattie Scott; brothers: DeEllis Jackson, James Jackson, Johnny (Rawhide) Jackson, Willie (Pete) Jackson, Zollie (Billy) Jackson, and Grady Ruffin.
Sister Tyson leaves to cherish her memories: five children, Glenco (Franklin) Howard and Pamela Tyson, Montgomery, Alabama; Kathy Davis and Ivnell Tyson, Butler, Alabama; and Frank (Angelia) Tyson Hope Hull, Alabama; twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Pinkie Kennedy, Butler, Alabama; seven sisters-in law, Mary Bonner, Susie (David) Edwards, Annie Jackson, Marilyn Jackson, Mary Jackson, Willie Mae Miller, and Geneva Ray; and a host of other family.
