Deacon Bennie Hubert Moss was born on March 4, 1945 to the late John & Ola Mae Moss in Butler, Alabama. Bennie was the second of three children.

Bennie confessed his faith at an early age and was a member of Salem Baptist Church until he later joined Wahalak Missionary Baptist Church. Deacon Moss served faithfully at Wahalak Missionary Baptist Church until his health began to fail.

He met and was united in Holy Matrimony to Ethel M. (Wallace) Moss, and to this union three children were born.

Bennie graduated from Choctaw County Training School in 1965. He was a legendary coach and caregiver, which he enjoyed doing, as well as being a father figure to many children in Choctaw County and the surrounding areas.

The Lord saw he was getting tired, and called him home on July 14, 2023 at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruby Rodgers and his brother, William Minor.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife of 55 years, Ethel M. Moss; four (4) children, Jennifer (Eugene) Brown of Butler, AL, Timothy Moss of Detroit, MI, Melody Rembert of Cincinnati, OH and Marcus Moss of Tuscaloosa, AL; twelve (12) grandchildren, four (4) great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Ridgeway of Butler, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
