James H. Studdard, Sr.


President – Embalmer/Funeral Director

James H. Studdard, Sr., a former resident of Nashville, TN and Birmingham, AL, is the son of H. E. Studdard and the late Christie L. Studdard. Although his educational background is varied, he earned his funeral services credentials from Jefferson State Community College in Birmingham, AL.

He has taught hundreds of medical students and first year residents of Pathology to perform autopsies and has handled more than 12,000 such cases himself during his career with Vanderbilt University, Meherry Medical College, Medical Examiner’s Office in Nashville, Davidson County, TN and the Jefferson County (AL) Coroner’s Office.

James has helped various doctors, forensic pathologists, and authors with documentation relating to published medical studies, including some that have been featured in medical magazines and on a national network television news show.

This third generation funeral service provider (son and grandson of former funeral service directors and embalmers) with over 40 years of experience is known for his detailed embalming process and for helping loved ones going through the grieving process. He is known by many as the funeral service professional who other funeral service professionals call on in their time of need.

A current Pennington, Choctaw County, Alabama resident, he is married to the former Geraldine Glover and they have six children.

James H. Studdard, Sr. currently serves as President and Embalmer of Weatherly-Studdard Memorial Funeral Home which serves all of Southwest Alabama and East Mississippi with courteous, dignified, professional funeral services that meet everyone’s financial needs.
